Purushottom Walawalkar Higher Secondary School since the last thirty five years has been striving to bring about an all round development of students. Today our alumni are shining in various fields – Academics, Sports, Drama, Music, Science and Social Service.
Awards and Recognition
Our institution has won several awards, to name a few, the 5th Computer Literacy Excellence Award by Ministry of Information and Technology, Govt. of India, the Best School-Industry Linkage (NCERT) Award at Bhopal twice, the Best Vocational Institution (NCERT) Award at Bhopal thrice.
Staff Achievements
Our staff have proved their mettle. We are proud to say that Principal Shri Subhash N. Naik was the recipient of the State Teacher Award (Year 2010) and Vice-Principal Shri Nagendra D. Kore was the recipient of Best Vocational Teacher NCERT Award (Year 1998). In 2016, Principal Shri. Anil G. Samant was a worthy recipient of the State Teacher Award 2015. He was bestowed with National Teacher Award 2016, at the hands of the Hon. President of India, Shri. Pranab Mukherjee.
Student Success
Few years ago, we tasted the fruit of success when Mast. Sohan Sandeep Shirodkar from std. XII Science topped the list at HSSC Exam – 2012 of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education. Ms. Richa Natekar Scored 100/100 in Biology at the HSSC Exam – 2017. Ms. Milan Usapkar scored 100/100 in History at HSSC Exam – 2018. At HSSC Exam 2019 – three students secured 100/100 marks – Miss Nisha Korgaonkar – Psychology, Miss Vishva Govekar – Political Science and Miss Mrunmaie Chodankar – Biology. In HSSC Exam 2020 four students scored 100/100 – Niharika Walawalkar – Economics, Vedangi Parsekar – Political Science & Psychology, Dashmi Mandrekar – Political Science, Mrunali Chari – Psychology. At HSSC Exam 2022 Miss Kajal Arondekar secured 100/100 marks in Political Science.
Our Mission and Facilities
Through our curricular and extra curricular activities we have a mission – we aim at the physical and intellectual development of a student. We nurture sports talent by all round involvement and participation. Our PTA is very active and has innovative ideas. With the valuable assistance and co-operation of PTA we could give all the classrooms, staff room and laboratories a new look. Students security and upgradation of infrastructure facilites are undertaken on a priority basis.
Each faculty undertakes innovative programmes wherein motivation and guidance are provided to students. Field trips and study tours give students greater exposure. Exhibitions and on-the-job training programmes add valuable weightage to their academics. Apart from the classrooms, is a spacious library with a reading room having a precious collection of books. Well equipped Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computer Laboratories and AET Workshops are provided. All classrooms are provided with LCD units. A spacious state of the art hall for the institution is also located within the premises with a seating capacity of 300 persons.
Vocational Courses & Academics
Specialized Vocational courses are conducted under a scheme for change in educational system at the Pre-University level. It aims at diversion of students from the main stream of General education to the Vocational stream. The maximum intake of these courses is 20 students. The duration of the Vocational courses is two years. The syllabi of courses have been so drawn that the students on completion of the courses would acquire adequate skills to fit into public/private sector undertakings. The pass-outs will be capable of and will actually engage themselves in self-employment ventures. The Vocational pass outs are eligible for the admission to under-graduate courses leading to first degree like B.A., B.Com., B.Sc., B.Voc and Polytechnics. The students of Computer Techniques are provided with vertical mobility and can take admission to Bachelor in Computer Applications (B.C.A.), Diploma in Computer Engg., B.Sc., B. A. and BBA. Students on completion of Vocational course successfully can take the benefit of Apprenticeship training with a stipend paid at Government approved rates.
Presently we have three divisions each for Arts, Science and Commerce and one for Office Management, Accountancy & Auditing, Automobile Engineering Technology and Computer Techniques.
With the devotion, dedication and determination of all stake-holders in the field of education – Students, Teachers, Parents and Management – this institution has achieved success and a positive standing.

Parents/Guardians are deemed members of SV's Purushottom Walawalkar Higher Secondary School, by paying ₹10/- as membership fee for every academic year. They are required to follow up their Child's/ Ward's progress. For this they should bear in mind the examination/ test dates and they should meet the class teacher and the subject teacher's when called for especially on open days.

The P.T.A. has been working very hard to see that the students get the best of education through the best of infrastructure. Under the able leadership of our P.T.A. President Dr. Jayesh Churi and the guidance of our Principal numerous tasks were completed during the academic year 2021-22.
